Alexander Paul

Alex is Managing Director, Global Co-Head of Technology, Digital & Financial Services in HSBC’s Investment Banking division. The Group is responsible for strategic coverage of clients across the Technology, Financial Services, and new economy sectors.

He has over 20 years of experience in corporate finance. He has advised many of the largest financial institutions and governments on landmark transactions over that period.

He joined HSBC in 2007 in the M&A team and has since led teams across ECM, Corporate Finance Advisory and M&A. Between 2016 and 2019, Alex was Global Head of Business Development, leading on strategy, change and transformation and overseeing capital optimisation for HSBC’s Global Banking division. He was Global Head of the Financial Institutions Group between 2019 and 2024.

Alex is an alumni of Manchester University, the University of London and Harvard Business School. He is a Fellow of the Aspen Institute’s Finance Leaders Fellowship.
