Previously, as the founder and CEO of Start Campus, Afonso spearheaded the development of an innovative platform for green data centers, securing funding and delivering a €9 billion flagship data center project in Sines, Portugal. His efforts included pioneering energy-efficient technologies and fostering strategic partnerships.

Afonso’s extensive background includes senior roles at Cantor Fitzgerald, Jefferies, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he executed high-value M&A and advisory deals worth over €11 billion across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. His early career at EDP and J.P. Morgan further solidified his expertise in the energy and infrastructure space, with a degree in Industrial Engineering and Management.
