The ‘Brazilian Internet of Things Association - ABINC’ is a non-profit organisation whose main objectives are to encourage the exchange of technical and managerial information, foster commercial activity, promote research and development and represent the various players in the Internet of Things (IoT / M2M) market before the government authorities in charge of Brazilian telecommunications.
Founded in December 2015, it was the initiative of its president and the marketing, legal and public relations directors. At the time, there was a need to create an organisation that was legitimate and representative, nationwide, and that would enable it to act on all fronts in the sector of what is now known more generally as the ‘Internet of Things’.
This is, in fact, an area that is still in a state of formation - where each sector and market niche has yet to define which technologies are most applicable, and was still very much in its infancy at the time this organisation was set up. With a ‘not-for-profit’ corporate purpose, ABINC hopes to gain free access to the academic and technical research institutions that are spearheading advances in the various protocols, technical models, etc.
